Drill is a type of music originated from the south side of Chicago in the early 2010, it then made its way to the UK scene and became a platform for a lot of young black men. Numerous artist has used this genre of music to express themselves and create a wide following of other young people. Drill music and rap submerged from Brixton in south London, from 2012 till present date.
It has been believed that over the years music has played a role in some individuals becoming deviant but is that to be blamed on the music or the individual’s rational consciousness. When ‘Bowling for Columbine’ was made society blamed Marylyn Manson because the shooters mentioned that they had listen to Manson earlier that day before they committed the crimes. Drill music has become more of a concern for the Metropolitan police as new waves of crime surged in 2018 to a total of 153 murders in the first couple months. A consciousness of moral panic was created, and numerous videos where then deleted of the media platform YouTube, causing confusion as to why. The Genre Drill has had numerous positive profilers creating and an image that it is not all violence as society portrays interlinking this form with social construction theory.
